Southern Maryland Boot Scooters

Bobby Phipps created the Southern Maryland Boot Scooters and led the dance team for 11 years before losing his life tragically in June 2006. The dance team continues to perform in his memory, with his name imprinted or embroidered on the sleeve of all of their uniform shirts.

The Southern Maryland Boot Scooters dance team was formed during the summer of 1995 by Bobby Phipps and hasn't stopped dancing since!

We are a group of friends who love to dance and have fun. And we dance to all genres of music, not just country. If a song is popular, there is a good chance we know a dance for it!

We perform at community events and venues such as festivals, county fairs, and long-term care facilities. We also perform at charity fundraisers and often are available to perform at private parties and company functions. We do not charge a fee for performing, but do accept donations to help defray the costs of team shirts and travel. The Southern Maryland Boot Scooters is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

While we are not professionals (nor do we strive to be), the team did appear several times on TNN's Club Dance (a television show that aired throughout the 1990s). We also have produced instructional videos of dances choreographed by our team members.

The Southern Maryland Boot Scooters is open to anyone interested in dancing with us. No audition or previous dance experience is required, and there is no fee to join. The only possible expense is the cost of the team shirts worn for performances, but generally the team is able to purchase these with monies received through donations.

If you are interested in joining our team or in having the Southern Maryland Boot Scooters perform at your function or event, please contact us.
